Department of Livestock Management
Livestock plays a pivotal role in Pakistan’s agricultural economy and is a major source of livelihood for communities in the Cholistan region. Recognizing its strategic importance, the Department of Livestock Management was established in 2018 within the Faculty of Animal Production and Technology at the Cholistan University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (CUVAS), Bahawalpur.
The Department is committed to developing skilled professionals capable of addressing the challenges of semi-commercial and commercial livestock farming. Through problem-oriented, industry-relevant research, it works to enhance productivity and overcome constraints in the dairy and meat sectors. Faculty members actively contribute to national and international conferences and peer-reviewed journals, strengthening both academic knowledge and practical advancement.
The Department aims to empower graduates with comprehensive knowledge, practical skills, and professional ethics, while establishing itself as a center of excellence in animal production and livestock management. Its mission aligns with the University’s commitment to excellence in education, research, and outreach through rigorous academic programs, hands-on training, and industry engagement.

Our faculty is committed to providing quality education, practical training and research opportunities in animal production, poultry sciences, livestock management, breeding and genetics, meat technology, genomics and bioinformatics, and rangeland, forest and wildlife sciences.
We believe in developing professionals who can address the evolving challenges of modern animal agriculture. Alongside classroom learning and practical laboratory training, students are encouraged to develop their leadership, management, communication and entrepreneurial skills through diverse academic and co-curricular activities.
Our faculty members are actively engaged in teaching, research and community service, working to improve livestock and poultry productivity, animal breeding, feed and nutrition, meat quality and processing, genetic improvement, and sustainable management of natural resources. Through hands-on training and applied research, we prepare students to contribute effectively to the livestock and agricultural sectors.
Our mission is to contribute to the economic and agricultural development of South Punjab and beyond by producing highly skilled graduates, advancing innovative research, promoting sustainable animal production systems, and providing practical solutions to the challenges faced by farmers, producers and the wider agricultural community.
